I have yet to be nominated, but I have been in touch with my peace corps officer. He called Tuesday, March 13th and asked me what I wanted to do. I said I would prefer primary teaching to business advising, but was willing to go wherever.
There was an opening for a Feb ’13 slot for business advising in Sub-Saharan Africa, and he wanted to put me down for it. He said that it wasn’t like this last year (as in the competitiveness), and I was going to be competing against 8 other applicants to get nominated for that spot.
Well, he was supposed to call Monday to let me know what happened, but I’m assuming that if I didn’t get the call; I didnt get the spot. My recruiter comforted me by telling me that as more positions open up, I will be a competitive applicant for them. Although I didn’t get this position, I am excited to know that it’s not over. Who knows, I might get a primary education spot after all?
Everyone tells me to have patience, and right now all I can do is wait. My only fear is that I will be forgotten among that masses, so in response, I plan on contacting my recruiter next week via email to ask him what I should be doing.
